Mayor Mike Kondratick signed the Mayors\’ Monarch Butterfly Pledge and presented it to third grade students \ from Pine Springs Academy at May\'s Parks \& Recreation Advisory Committee meeting.

The purpose of this National Wildlife Federation program is to raise awareness about the decline on the monarch \ butterfly \& the species\' needed for habitat.

Action items include supporting a native seed giveaway, facilitating a milkweed seed collection and propagation \ effort and establishing a monarch and pollinator-friendly garden at the Sugg Farm Community Garden.

The primary National Wildlife Federation program dedicated to raising awareness about monarch butterfly declines \ and restoring their critical habitat is the Mayors\' Monarch Pledge. Through this initiative, mayors and local government heads \ commit to specific community-wide actions to create pollinator habitats and educate citizens on how to reverse the \ sharp decline of eastern and western monarch populations.\
