September is National Senior Center Month, a yearly celebration highlighting how local senior centers act as vital community hubs for older adults. The official theme for 2026 is Happier Birthdays Happen Here, developed by the National Council on Aging (NCOA). The theme focuses on combatting loneliness and isolation by demonstrating that joy, community connection, growth, and wellness inside senior centers make each passing year richer.

A variety of special programs, health expos, and festive spirit weeks are happening across these North Carolina towns to mark the occasion.
