Join our new Reading Buddies program in partnership with Salem Elementary School Parent Teacher Association and make a lasting impact in a child\'s life! Senior (55+) volunteers will visit the school at least once a week to read with a student. You will offer encouragement as the student reads to you, help with tricky words, and build up their confidence!\

Reading Buddies weekly shift times may vary, but all shifts will occur sometime between 11:00am-2:00pm. A sign up will be provided after training, and we will officially launch the program on January 6, 2026! Sign up by November 30 to be a part of our first group of Reading Buddies!\ All volunteers must complete Wake County Public School\'s volunteer onboarding process prior to participating. This includes passing a background check.
